Hi, my name is Brian Kleinman. I am an environmental professional working as a public servant who cares deeply about the peaceful coexistence of humans with nature and with ourselves. I carry this concern through my personal and professional life. My friends and family would agree that my wonderful wife, Katie, helped me discover my care for humanity and the environment. We met at Ohio University where we attended undergraduate school. After a wonderful European backpacking adventure, we moved to Bloomington, Indiana and got married. After I finished graduate school at Indiana University, we moved to Washington, DC where we currently reside. Some of my hobbies include cycling, rock climbing, photography, wood working, reading, going to the movies, and watching The Real World (the fault of my wife).
| 2005-04-26: I haven't updated my news in a while so here is the short version. My sister and her husband are getting along great! They found a very cute and affordable apartment. After redoing some hand-me-down furniture they really made the place look awesome. The weather in Washington is getting better now which my wife and I are very happy about. It also helps my training for the Get Your Guts in Gear bike ride in early June. It is a 210 mile, 3 day ride from NYC to Saratoga Springs, NY. I am raising money to support research into Crohn's and Colitis. I will be riding with my Uncle (our second ride together) who has Crohn's disease. Right now, most of my training is in commuting to work. A great way to see the city! Otherwise, the winter was very enjoyable with lots of skiing opportunities in the area! Katie bought skis and we hit the slopes 4 times, a new record for us. We are beginning the process of looking for a condo/townhouse/house to purchase. Wish us luck!
That's all for now. Brian. | | 2004-11-03: On day's like this one, I like to think about one of my favorite songs:
Soak Up the Sun -Sheryl Crow
C'mon, C'mon Album - 2002
My friend the communist Holds meetings in his RV I can't afford his gas So I'm stuck here watching TV I don't have digital I don't have diddly squat It's not having what you want It's wanting what you've got o
CHORUS: I'm gonna soak up the sun Gonna tell everyone To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that) I've got no one to blame For every time I feel lame I'm looking up o I'm gonna soak up the sun I'm gonna soak up the sun I've got a crummy job It don't pay near enough To buy the things it takes To win me some of your love Every time I turn around I'm looking up, you're looking down Maybe something's wrong with you That makes you act the way you do
CHORUS
I'm gonna soak up the sun While it's still free I'm gonna soak up the sun Before it goes out on me Don't have no master suite I'm still the king of me You have a fancy ride, but baby I'm the one who has the key Every time I turn around I'm looking up, you're looking down Maybe something's wrong with you That makes you act the way you do Maybe I am crazy too
CHORUS
I'm gonna soak up the sun Got my 45 on So I can rock on. | | 2004-07-17: My sister, Karen, got married today! I was a groomsman along with my brother's Jeffrey and Brandon. The groom, Nick Rediger, was friend's with my sister all through college. He had a well known crush on her for quite a while but it wasn't until Karen's senior year when she finally fell for him. They got engaged on Valentines Day, 2003. I am very excited for both of them.
It is not common for a brother to say this, especially one as protective as me, but I really like Nick, he is already like a brother to me and I look forward to sharing lots of family time with him throughout our lives! | | | 2004-05-07: I graduate from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. I received a Masters of Environmental Science and a Masters of Public Affairs. My concentrations were technically Water Resources and Environmental Policy and Natural Resources Managment; however, I like to say that I got a masters in Water... science and policy. | | | 2002-12-31: Today I married my SOUL MATE, Katherine Miller (Kleinman now).
