On July 12, we took a hydrofoil ferry to Naples and then took a train to Pompeii. After a quick nap and snack, (the classic Brian and Katie tip for great traveling) we went to the old Pompeii city. On August 24, AD 79, Mt. Vesuvius buried the city in lava. Excavations began in 1748 and continue today. We saw the amphitheater, the Forum, and a lot of homes.
