We arrived in Munich on Saturday, June 30th. We made our way to the YMCA (or in German JCVJM) where we were staying.
We took a train to Dachau, Germany’s first concentration camp. The walls, gates, gas chamber, and crematorium have been restored since 1962 in an eerie memorial to the victims of Dachau. After a long couple of hours there, we went back to Munich.
We saw the New Town Hall where the Glockenspiel chimes (although we missed it). Then we ate dinner at the Hofbräuhaus, where we sat with what seemed to be the only Germans in the place. After a lot of beer, Radlers (lemonade and beer), and shots of obstler, (which our new-found friends started buying us), we ran back to the JCVJM to make our 12:30 curfew. Pfew!
The next day we traveled to Füssen, Germany.
